Associate Professor Yu Tao

Yu Tao is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Western Australia, where he teaches and coordinates Chinese studies and currently serves as the Chair of Asian Studies. Trained as a political sociologist, he researches China’s global impacts, how other societies perceive these impacts, and how China’s governance evolves in a globalising world. Dr Monica Tan

Monica Tan is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies at the University of Melbourne. She is a China studies specialist with research interests in health policy, health social science, and China’s global engagement. Ratih Kabinawa

Ratih Kabinawa is a doctoral candidate in International Relations and Asian Studies at the University of Western Australia. Her doctoral thesis discusses the engagement between state and non-state actors in foreign policy using the case of Taiwan’s people-centred foreign policy in Southeast Asia. She is the recipient of the Taiwan Fellowship 2024 and will commence her research in Taiwan starting in April 2024. During her Fellowship, she will examine the role of migrant workers in Indonesia’s policy towards Taiwan. Ratih is currently finishing her doctoral thesis.
